Chennai Super Kings finish IPL league stage on top, reach playoffs for record 8th time

The Chennai Super Kings remained the most consistent team in the Indian Premier League by finishing the IPL 2015 league stage on the top with nine wins.

This is the record 8th time the Super Kings have reached the playoffs, becoming the only side to achieve the feat in the history of the tournament.

In their last league game, the Super Kings defeated the Kings XI Punjab by seven wickets, courtesy flowing fifty from Faf du Plessis and swift innings from Suresh Raina.

Skipper MS Dhoni hit a couple of lethal blows right at the end to seal the game for the Chennai Super Kings with 19 balls to spare. He remained unbeaten and scored 16-ball 25 for his side.

Dhoni marshaled his bowlers superbly and created pressure right from the start, after asked to bowl by Punjab skipper George Bailey. He used the spinners to perfection and never allowed the home team to settle down.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja maintained tight line and length, while picking a crucial wicket of Glenn Maxwell. He also took David Miller’s fantastic catch in the deep off Pawan Negi.
