Chennaiyin FC retain six domestic players, sign two new recruits

Chennaiyin FC have retained six domestic players and signed defender Mehrajuddin Wadoo and midfielder Godwin Franco for the Indian Super League season, second edition.

The players that are retained by the franchisee are defenders Abhishek Das and Dhanachandra Singh, midfielder Harmanjot Singh Khabra and forwards Jeje Lalpekhlua, Balwant Singh and Jayesh Rane.

Khabra is set to join on loan from East Bengal, while remaining seven players – Abhishek, Dhanachandra, Jeje, Balwant, Jayesh, Wadoo and Godwin – will join as free agents.

Wadoo is a prize domestic signing for the Chennaiyin FC, as the Kashmir defender has more than 30 international caps for India. He also stamped his mark in the ISL last season, while he is currently playing in the I-League.

Players Retained: Jayesh Rane, Abhishek Das, Harmanjot Singh Khabra, Jeje Lalpekhula, Dhanachandra Singh and Balwant Singh.

Signings from Open Market: Godwin Franco and Mehrajuddin Wadoo.
