Karn Sharma, Ankush Bains in India ‘A’ squad for unofficial Tests against South Africa

India leg-spinner Karn Sharma and young prodigy Ankush Bains have made it to the India ‘A’ squad for the two-match unofficial Test series against South Africa ‘A’.

Karn has played in all three formats – Tests, ODIs and T20I – for the Indian national team and been a consistent performer in the domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League.

Ankush, meanwhile, played crucial knocks for Himachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy and List A matches, while equally faring well in T20 matches.

It would be an important series for both Karn, who would be aiming to get some playing time under the belt, and making comeback into the Indian team, after an injury.

Karn has also found place in the India ‘A’ squad for the tri-series, involving ‘A’ teams from South Africa and Australia.

Ankush, on the other hand, would get vital experience under batting legend Rahul Dravid, who is the coach of the India ‘A’ side.

The two-match unofficial Test series would take place at the Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad, Kerala, while the opening match would commence from August 18.
