Karn Sharma makes debut in whites as India fought hard in Adelaide Test

After impressive performances in limited-overs format, Karn Sharma makes his debut for Team India in Tests and finished as the highest wicket-taker in Adelaide for the touring party.

Karn dismissed four batsmen, including David Warner, Michael Clarke and Chris Rogers, and played instrumental role in breaking crucial partnerships. Australia’s Warner, who made back-to-back tons in the match, was dismissed by Karn twice.

In the first Test of the series, stand-in skipper Virat Kohli led from the front and almost brought India home. Kohli struck fine centuries in both innings and was supported by Murali Vijay, who scored successive fifties in the game.

India lost the match by 48 runs as Aussie off-spinner Nathan Lyon took seven-for in the second innings and helped Australia in taking 1-0 lead in the series. Lyon finished with ten wickets in the match and was named man of the match.

Earlier in practice games, Karn impressed everyone with both bat and ball. He took six wickets in two warm-up matches and also scored a fifty against Cricket Australia Invitational XI. Both two-day practice games ended in a draw.
