Karn Sharma makes debuts in whites for Team India in Adelaide Test

Leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who impressed one and all in practice games against Cricket Australia XI, was handed his maiden Test cap in the first Tests against Australia at Adelaide Oval.

Karn has already made an impression in the opportunities he has got in the limited-overs format for the men in blue. The leggie bowled well on the flat Adelaide wicket and also picked a couple of wickets.

The 27-year-old Meerut-born claimed two Australian wickets on debut, including David Warner, who made a scorching hundred on the first day.

“I am happy with my performance – I broke a crucial partnership – and I want to continue that,” Karn said. “I got to know in the morning that I would be playing. I was confident that sooner or later I would get a chance to play but to get it in the first Test of the series was very special.”

Skipper MS Dhoni handed Karn his Test cap before the commencement of play, as he become the 283rd player to represent Team India in whites.
