MS Dhoni becomes most successful India ODI skipper in World Cups

India skipper MS Dhoni has become the most successful Indian ODI skipper in World Cups with ninth successive win. India beat Ireland by eight wickets in Hamilton that was India’s ninth win in the marquee event and fifth in this edition.

Dhoni is also the third captain after West Indies’ Clive Lloyd and Australia’s Ricky Pointing to win nine successive matches. He also surpassed Sourav Ganguly’s record with the win over Ireland.

“It feels good,” Dhoni said. “Everyone is happy we have been able to win nine consecutive games, we just have to take the momentum forward.”
